Ignition and flame dropout
Depending on configuration, the burner may be direct-fired in the airstream or indirect-fired with a heat exchanger, and it's often a third-party assembly, not something unique to the cabin. The fix usually lives in the burner and its gas train, not the booth structure.
The opening scenario — heats, runs, then drops — commonly traces to a weak flame signal, a drifting flame sensor, marginal gas pressure that only shows under sustained draw, or a high-limit device tripping because airflow across the burner fell off. Temperature that swings or never reaches setpoint
Slow or uneven cure usually comes down to three things: the cabin isn't recirculating as designed, the damper isn't reaching its cure position, or the temperature sensor is reading a spot that isn't representative. Whether your booth has a recirculating cure mode depends on configuration — check your manual.
Airflow, filters, and pressure readings
Filter loading is the most common driver of booth complaints across every brand. As media loads, airflow drops, cabin balance shifts, overspray hangs, and dirt in the finish goes up. Painters compensate with gun technique, which hides it until something else breaks.
Filter sizes and media are specific to your cabin — measure your frames and confirm against your documentation rather than ordering by brand name.
Trust the gauge, not the feel
Your booth shows pressure drop somehow — mechanical manometer, digital readout, or a transducer feeding the control package. The number only means something if you know the reading when the filters were new. Record that baseline, post it on the wall, and change media on the reading, not the calendar. One caution: tubing plugs with overspray and gauges drift. A reading that hasn't moved in six months is usually a broken gauge, not a stable booth.

Controls and electronic packages
The control package is where these cabins differ most. Generations changed over the years and installs get customized — some booths have energy-saving or variable-speed drive packages, some don't. We won't guess at menu structures or fault displays for your unit; be skeptical of anyone who does sight unseen.
Generically, though: most "the control board is bad" calls aren't the board. More often it's a failed sensor, a damper actuator that lost its travel, a contactor with burned contacts, a loose terminal in a panel that vibrates all day, or a drive faulting for a downstream reason. Boards do fail — but they're the expensive conclusion, not the starting assumption. Verify the inputs before anyone quotes a control replacement.
Doors, seals, lighting, and interlocks
Cabin hardware gets ignored until the finish suffers. Worn seals and sagging doors let unfiltered air in at floor level, straight into the wet film. Latches and hinges take abuse from carts and bumpers. Lenses fog with overspray and painters compensate with work lights — if your crew is dragging in extra lighting, the booth lighting has already failed.
Interlocks deserve their own mention. If your booth inhibits spray unless the fans prove airflow, that circuit is a safety function, and anyone who "temporarily" jumpered one created a real liability. For a single-shift shop, a workable rhythm — adjust for your volume and your manual:
- Weekly: record the pressure reading, sweep floor debris, walk the door seals.
- Monthly: inspect intake and exhaust media, check light lenses, listen to the fans.
- Quarterly to semiannual: belts, sheaves, bearings, damper linkage, panel terminations, and a burner cycle observed by a technician.
- Annually: full inspection with recorded readings, plus interlock and safety device verification.

Stop running the booth and call for a burner that lights and drops repeatedly, any smell of gas, a breaker tripping more than once, a fan making a new noise, a damper that won't move, a bypassed safety device, or a finish problem that persists after fresh filters.
