What we do on GFS booths.

GFS booths are widely installed in collision and industrial finishing, and lines such as the Ultra and Performer are among the cabins we see most. As hours add up, attention typically turns to pressure switches, sensors, drive components, and the heat package. Configurations vary by install, so we diagnose the actual unit rather than assume.

Spray Booth Services provides independent service for GFS booths, along with all makes and models. We're a division of John Baker Sales, in business since 2003, and paint booths and the compressors that feed them are all we work on. Common GFS booth problems

Most GFS calls come from a booth that still runs but quietly costs money. The short list:

Won't hit or hold cure temperature: burner, gas supply, air proving, or recirculation issues.
Weak or unbalanced airflow: loaded filters, belt slip, damper position, or a fan problem.
Nuisance shutdowns: an interlock, limit, or pressure switch doing its job for a reason nobody has traced.
Dirt in the finish: envelope leaks, failing seals, filter bypass, or negative pressure pulling shop air in.
Controls that no longer match reality: drifted sensors, a manometer nobody trusts, timers nobody set.

What you can check yourself

Some of this is shop-level work you don't need a technician for:

Read and log the manometer at the same time each day. The trend matters more than any one number.
Change intake and exhaust filters on readings and a schedule, not on complaint.
Keep floor grates clear and the cabin swept.
Wipe light lenses and note any that look yellow or dim.
Listen for new fan noise and check that belts aren't slipping.
Inspect door seals for tears, flattening, and gaps.

When to call a technician

Call for repeated high-limit or airflow-proving trips, a burner that lights and drops out, temperature that won't hold, a noisy fan, or dirt that persists after fresh filters. Those are paint booth repair jobs, and safeties should never be bypassed to keep the booth running.

GFS booth service questions

Why won't my GFS booth reach bake temperature?

Most often it's airflow or gas supply rather than the burner itself: loaded filters, a slipping belt, a damper not fully opening, or gas pressure dropping when other appliances fire. It needs to be measured on site to know which.

Why does my GFS booth keep shutting down?

Usually an interlock, limit, or pressure switch is doing its job. The fix is to find what it's reacting to, such as loaded filters or low airflow, not to reset it repeatedly.

How often should a GFS booth be serviced?

Filter intervals depend on your volume and what you spray. A full mechanical inspection once or twice a year is typical for a production shop: belts, bearings, dampers, seals, burner, and instrumentation.

Are you a GFS dealer or authorized service center?

No. Spray Booth Services is an independent service company. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by GFS, and we'll tell you if something needs to go back to the manufacturer.

Can you service a booth you didn't install?

Yes. We work on booths regardless of who sold or installed them.

How quickly do you respond?

We respond to every request within one business day. If the booth is down, tell us when you call so we can plan the visit around it.
