What we do

What we do on USI booths.

USI Italia is an Italian booth manufacturer, and Chronotech is one of its booth lines. What's on your floor is generally a downdraft cabin with an air make-up unit, heat package, and electronic controls. USI has a long-installed base, and on higher-hour booths, control, motor, and airflow components often need a refresh to get finishes and cycle times back.

Spray Booth Services provides independent service for USI booths, along with all makes and models. We're a division of John Baker Sales, in business since 2003, and paint booths and the compressors that feed them are all we work on. Whether you need a repair or scheduled maintenance, we'll find the real cause and explain it in plain terms.

Common USI booth problems

Most USI calls start with an intermittent booth, not a dead one. The usual patterns:

A booth that heats, runs, then drops out, often a weak flame signal, marginal gas pressure under sustained draw, or a high-limit trip as airflow falls off.
Slow or uneven cure from a damper not reaching its cure position or a sensor reading an unrepresentative spot.
“Bad control board” calls that turn out to be a failed sensor, a burned contactor, a loose terminal, or a drive faulting for a downstream reason.
Filters run past their life because a gauge with plugged tubing hasn't moved in months.
Worn seals, sagging doors, and fogged lenses on high-hour cabins.

What you can check yourself

Some of this is shop-level work you don't need a technician for:

Read and log the manometer at the same time each day. The trend matters more than any one number.
Change intake and exhaust filters on readings and a schedule, not on complaint.
Keep floor grates clear and the cabin swept.
Wipe light lenses and note any that look yellow or dim.
Listen for new fan noise and check that belts aren't slipping.
Inspect door seals for tears, flattening, and gaps.

When to call a technician

Stop running the booth and call for a burner that lights and drops repeatedly, any smell of gas, a breaker tripping more than once, a new fan noise, a damper that won't move, a bypassed safety device, or a finish problem that persists after fresh filters. Those are paint booth repair jobs.

USI booth service questions

Who can service a USI Italia booth?

Any qualified independent technician who works on downdraft cabins, air make-up units, and gas heat packages. Whoever shows up should read your booth's documentation instead of assuming a configuration.

Why does my booth heat up and then quit?

Most often a flame signal issue, a gas supply condition that only appears under sustained load, or a limit device tripping because airflow across the burner dropped as filters loaded.

What filters does a Chronotech booth take?

Filter sizes and media depend on cabin size and build, so measure your frames and confirm against your documentation. Intake and exhaust media are usually different products on different schedules.

Are you a USI dealer or authorized service center?

No. Spray Booth Services is an independent service company. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by USI, and we'll tell you if something needs to go back to the manufacturer.

Can you service a booth you didn't install?

Yes. We work on booths regardless of who sold or installed them.

How quickly do you respond?

We respond to every request within one business day. If the booth is down, tell us when you call so we can plan the visit around it.
